Storytime at your local library
Have you ever thought about reading to your baby or toddler? Your child develops rapidly in the first few years. Reading and singing together is not only fun but also great for your child's language and speech development. So it’s smart to start early!
Enjoy reading together and meet other caregivers
BoekStart is a storytime program in your local Library that allows children from 0 to 4 years old and their grown ups to enjoy books together. At our storytime mornings, experienced and trained volunteers read stories. And of course there's time to play and sing together! It is also a great place to meet other caregivers and exchange experiences and tips. Participation is free, you can come in at:
- Centrum Library on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. We have three reading spots on the 1st and 2nd floors. It’s usually busy, so arrive early and find a spot for you and your child.
- Colmschate Library on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
- Keizerslanden Library on Fridays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
- 't Hovenhuus (Leliestraat 27 on De Worp) on Thursdays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
There is no storytime in July and August. At ‘t Hovenhuus there are no storytime hours during all school holidays.
We're hoping to start storytime sessions at other locations as well. We are still looking for enthusiastic reading volunteers! If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, sign up on this page.
Get your little one a library card for free!
Membership at our library is free for children up to 27 years old, including your little one! When your baby is about 3 months old, you’ll receive a voucher for a BoekStart briefcase from the Consultatiebureau. In this cute briefcase you'll find two books to enjoy together and useful and fun reading tips for each one.
